Marvel’s Moon Knight will be heading to Disney Plus in the far future, alongside a host of other Marvel television shows. There’s plenty to be excited about where this series is concerned, but there’s also a lot we could be nervous about.

There are lots of big decisions for Marvel Studios to make regarding the character, that could make or break the series. Comic book fans want to see the classic character done justice. Here are 5 things we’re worried about and 5 things that we can wait for from Moon Knight.

NERVOUS: THE LACK OF MAINSTREAM APPEAL

The problem with this character is he is really not known to the wider public. Although plenty of minor Marvel characters are being introduced into the MCU, it could be tricky to add a brand new character to a whole series without any context.

Without established mainstream appeal, like a link to a Hulk or Captain Marvel like some of the other Disney Plus shows, the ratings could potentially be very low and therefore affect the chances of Moon Knight appearing in other Marvel franchises.

CAN’T WAIT: THE CAMEOS

There are so many potential cameos that we could see throughout this series. Since Moon Knight is a ground-level hero there’s plenty of characters who operate at that level who could make an appearance. What’s more, the martial arts side can play into this.

The Netflix characters such as Daredevil or Colleen Wing could be re-introduced to this series, or perhaps other martial arts icons such as Shang-Chi can be added. The cameos are sure to surprise us and we hope Disney capitalizes on this opportunity.

NERVOUS: THE COSTUME

Moon Knight’s costume is incredibly beautiful and one of the best suits in all of comics. It’s therefore why we are so nervous about how it could be adapted. However, Marvel has a really great track record of creating costumes that look like the comics but adapt to the screen.

The show will certainly have the budget to be able to adapt this properly. However, the crisp silver and white of the costume could come across so wrong on the screen, or Marvel could shy away from the look altogether. We’re really nervous about the finished piece, despite their history.

CAN’T WAIT: MARVEL’S DRACULA

One of the most iconic lines from the comics concerns Marvel’s version of Dracula. We’ve heard rumors that the character could actually be added to the show which would be great news for those hoping that the ridiculous rivalry between the two will be added to the series.

The addition of Dracula and perhaps even a werewolf, could show just how strange and bizarre the world this character lives in really is. It could allow for the MCU to expand out further and perhaps this is how Blade can be added to the lineup.

NERVOUS: MARC SPECTOR’S CHARACTER

The character of Marc Spector is completely unique compared to everyone else in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He’s quirky, full of heart, has multiple personalities and is perhaps one of the funniest yet gritty heroes in all of comics.

The tone of the show and the character itself must balance so many of these elements and more to make it feel authentic to Moon Knight. That isn’t an easy task in the slightest and we don’t envy the writers. Here’s hoping that we have no reason to be nervous.

CAN’T WAIT: THE MARTIAL ARTS

The martial arts across the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been mostly positive, with the exception of some of the TV shows. With the character of Shang-Chi entering the MCU we can only assume Marvel is working on their stunt scenes.

The show will have plenty of time to prepare for the action that will be coming up and with the combat that the character requires, we know that lots of training will be happening. We can’t wait to see how this character will move and fight on the small screen.

NERVOUS: THE CASTING

The casting team over at Marvel is absolutely phenomenal. Nearly every major character in the MCU has been cast to perfection and the performances only ever grow with time. However, that may not last forever, especially as characters become more complex.

There are a couple of different people that the internet is eyeing for the role. Daniel Radcliffe and Keanu Reeves are two names that keep appearing. Chances are neither of these two will be cast in the role, but we hope someone of their caliber delivers during the series.

CAN’T WAIT: THE STORYLINES

The various storylines that we’ve seen from Moon Knight from over the years have been phenomenal. There are some really unique narratives available to the writers; although there’s a strong possibility we will get an original story.

There is also so much potential to branch off from this down the line. The addition of Moon Knight helps with fantastic stories such as Shadowland which we would love to see. There’s just so much potential content here.

NERVOUS: THE LOCATION

The location chosen for this show is a difficult one to decide. It can actually be one of the key elements that helps the show succeed. The wrong location can make the overall tone of the show feel off and disconnected from the character.

There are a number of front runners for where the series should be set. Marc is originally from Chicago so this makes a lot of sense. The grimier areas of New York can also work for the series. However, a location like Ohio for instance just wouldn’t work.

CAN’T WAIT: THE ORIGIN STORY

Marc Spector’s origin is unlike anything we’ve seen so far in the MCU. With links to the ancient Egyptian god Horus, magical artifacts and a life mission to uphold some kind of ancient honor, there’s plenty to work with here in terms of a creative opening episode.

The origin is completely fresh; in the era of the superhero genre, it’s going to be really great to see something completely out of the box that still somehow fits into the wider universe as we know it. The first time Spector does don a mask will be an exciting moment.
